Smart City 2.0: Gurugram’s Global City Set to Redefine Urban Living in India

The Gurugram Global City project is a transformative urban development initiative by the Haryana government, strategically located along the Dwarka Expressway. Spanning approximately 1,000 acres across Sectors 36, 36B, 37, and 37B, this mixed-use township is envisioned to reshape the urban landscape of Gurugram.
Key Highlights of the Gurugram Global City Project
Project Scale and Investment: The development is projected to attract investments worth ₹1 lakh crore, aiming to bolster Haryana's contribution to the national GDP and create substantial employment opportunities across the state.
Phase 1 Development: The first phase covers 587 acres, with an investment of ₹940 crore. Scheduled for completion by December 2026, this phase includes the construction of 13 km of internal roads, 26 km of stormwater drains, 11.96 km of potable water networks, 12 km of recycled water pipelines, and a 10 km utility tunnel.
Land Use Distribution: The project allocates 56.08% of its area for commercial purposes, 40.05% for residential use, 2.73% for institutional facilities, and 1.14% for utilities.
Infrastructure and Amenities: Upon completion, the city will feature commercial towers, residential complexes, retail spaces, hospitals, schools, innovation centers, hospitality zones, and cultural areas. A dedicated internal mass rapid transportation system, including a light rapid transit (metro) with six stations, dedicated bus routes, pedestrian pathways, and cycling tracks, is planned to ensure seamless mobility.
Environmental Sustainability: The project emphasizes eco-friendly development with a 6 km green corridor featuring artificial lakes to promote a healthy lifestyle. It also aims for zero waste discharge and includes a common utility tunnel housing essential services like water supply, waste management, optical fiber, fire hydrants, and power cables.
Connectivity: Strategically positioned between the Northern Peripheral Road (NPR) and Central Peripheral Road (CPR), the Global City will have direct connectivity to the Dwarka Expressway and National Highways 48 and 352W, enhancing accessibility and fostering regional development.
Regulatory Approvals: The project has received environmental clearance from the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, facilitating expedited development and attracting potential investors and development partners.
The Gurugram Global City project represents a significant step towards sustainable and integrated urban development, aiming to position Gurugram as a global hub for commerce, innovation, and quality living.
